Draper Road Construction Project
The Town of Blacksburg has started the Draper Road Sidewalk Unity Project in front of the Alexander Black House & Cultural Center and Thomas-Conner House. There will be no Draper Road parking available during this time. Construction is taking place to replace the sidewalks and complete the entrance btween the Alexander Black House and the Thomas-Conner House. Parking is available in the Kent Square Parking Garage, or in the Black House back parking lot accessible from Wall Street entrance by way of Otey Street off Washington Street.

History Exhibit – “Blacksburg Businesses: 1850-1900”
This History Exhibit will highlight the businesses in the Historic 16 squares of Blacksburg during the second half of the 19th Century. Learn how this period of growth shaped Blacksburg and its residents.

Visit the ‘Weeds & Wilds’ gallery exhibit and meet the artist Nancy Norton artist.

Tuesday, February 16th – 6:30pm – Martini Tasting

Saturday, February 20th – Soul Food Sampling
– Noon, 2pm & 4pm seatings
The St. Luke and Odd Fellows Hall in Historic New Town will offer a Soul Food Sampling and presentation on the history of soul food. Three seatings of 18 people each will be held at 12, 2, and 4pm. The Sampling meals will be served with information about each item and its preparation. The cooks will be present to discuss their food. A Soul Food historian will also be on site.
Call the Alexander Black House & Cultural Center at 540-558-0746 to reserve your ticket for one of the 3 samplings. Tickets are $20 per person and will include a Soul Food Cookbook with our menu recipes.
